The London Hawk Lords ended a long winless drought and edged the Chicago
Rastafarians at Minute Maid Field by the score of 9 to 8.
London took the lead off Joe Kennedy in the first inning when they scored 5
runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Wily Mo Pena who quieted the crowd
when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 19th of the season). Chicago had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Jimmy Gobble(6-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Gobble was helped out by Damaso Marte who recorded his 2nd
save. Kennedy(6-5) was the loser.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Rob Danecker sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
